Dr. Michael J. McHan brings nearly two decades of distinguished experience in collegiate public speaking and competitive forensics to the RiseOne executive team. Widely recognized for coaching nationally and internationally ranked speakers, he also serves as a public speaking coach for C-level executives and delivers communication development workshops for organizations and leadership teams.
Beyond his leadership at RiseOne, Dr. McHan is President of the International Forensics Association, Assistant Director of Grossmont College’s award-winning speech and debate team, and a professor of communication at several institutions across San Diego. He has trained thousands of students, professionals, and executives to become more intentional, confident, and impactful communicators.
Dr. McHan’s approach blends communication with mindfulness. A certified yoga instructor and former wellness business owner, he understands the vital connection between mental clarity, physical well-being, and speaking effectiveness. His global teaching experience includes leading immersive study-abroad programs in Thailand, focusing on intercultural communication, Buddhism, meditation, and somatic practices.
At this stage of his career, Dr. McHan is deeply committed to helping individuals unlock their inner potential through communication. He believes meaningful expression begins with self-awareness—where inner reflection uncovers patterns that can be reshaped into confident, conscious communication.
