Beginning in broadcast journalism at ABC’s San Diego affiliate, KGTV/10 News, Afaf quickly rose through the ranks to become a UN Resident Correspondent. Her interviews with heads of state, UN leaders, and influential thinkers brought global issues to the forefront—culminating in her appointment as the Spokesperson for the President of the United Nations General Assembly.

Throughout her distinguished tenure at the UN, Afaf led communication for major international events, including the UN General Debates, Rio+20, ECOSOC forums, and numerous global summits. She served as the principal media liaison, navigating the intersection of policy, media, and public engagement with unmatched poise.
